Get ahold of Purpletooth on this forum. He's in your neck of the woods and may be intrested. I moved away from Post Falls, Id. back in 96'. I still have relatives in the Cd'A area and get to Spokane @ twice a year to buy stuff. Sure miss them gut bomb burgers at Dick's though! biggrin.gif

I've been thinking there should be enough of us around to get something going. I could bring a couple friends and pass the word along. Have you found any others interested?

Not yet. Where do you get your supplies? I go to Jim's (Bob). If we get a few people together maybe we can just meet up and exchange bottles of our best and share tips and whatnot. Maybe we can also hit up Bob for somekind of sponsorship for a club. BTW, I live on Fairchild.

Hi Patrick,
I also get my supplies aminly from Jim's as well. I commute from Cheney to Spokane for work each day. So, it's convenient for me.
Sounds like a good plan. It would be fun to meet up with another in our area that enjoys this hobby.
Shoot me an email and we can talk a little more personal stuff and see if we can find a mutually agreeable time and place. My email is jdtodd@centurytel.net
Nice to meet you!
John

Nice name! I'm out at the base and I'm a newbie as well. I just finished my first two kits in November and December. So far I only do kits, but I'll try doing some fruit wine soon. Do you go to Jim's? I recently just started two kits (my third and fourth), both still in primary stage.

I figure we can swap bottles and do tastings and such.

So far I've made a Luna Rossa, and a Chilean Malbec and I've got an Aussie Shiraz and a Mezza Luna in the works.

Thanks,

Patrick

Yeah I do all of my shopping at Jim's. I made a kit wine in August (Burgundy) and since then I've made a rice and raisin wine, a concord grape and a mead that I broke down into five seperate melomels. My next kit is going to be a Reisling. Nothing that I have made is done yet but I'm down for bottle swapping and tastings.

I was just wondering if you got a club started. I will be permantly moving back this summer to the Cheney area and I'am looking forward to starting my first kit. Where is the best place to buy kits around the Spokane area?

Hey. Sorry this thread's been inactive, I was visiting lovely Afghanistan. The best place in town is, by far, Jim's Beer and Wine on Division. He mostly sells Winexpert kits. Ask for Bob, the owner. Jim was a previous owner and they kept the name.

Sounds good, I will have to hit that place up as soon as I get there in a week. Are there any winemaker clubs around the area? I have been looking on the internet but I haven't found one. Afghanistan, How long were you there? I just got done spending a year in Iraq.

There are no winemaking clubs that I know of in the Spokane area. I wouldn't mind joining one though. My trip to Afghanistan was very short, it was more like a combat TDY - only about 70 days or so. Air Force usually goes for 179, but this was more of a TDY rather than a deployment. Was it a short tour in Iraq?

Thanks,

Patrick

Patrick,

It was for a year. The Army doesn't believe in short tours. Anyway, after looking at this thread further there are at least four winemakers in the area. We might just have to start something up in the next few months.

Hey, guys... Another winemaker in the Spokane area!

(Plus I know of another absolutely brand-new winemaker who just started about two weeks ago)

I'd be interested in getting together to visit, compare notes, swap a taste of "our best"...
