I'm heading down next week for an Altus/Paris winery tour. It's been too many years since my last trip. I probably have a different perspective now.

Yep! I live way out in the "sticks" on 72 acres and absolutely love it!We've got wild plums, wild and "tame" blackberries, persimmons,pears and in a few years when the trees get old enough,we'll have peaches and apples,too.
BTW Hippie, do you have a good persimmon wine recipe? Thanks!

I've been keeping my eye on the persimmon trees along the interstate. There are about a dozen large ones between Hope and Texarkana and they are LOADED! I'm thinking about going out and picking a couple of buckets full.
Jack has a persimmon recipe. I'm not sure these yellow Arkansas persimmons will be as good as the orange Texas persimmons but I think I'll give them a try.
