Hopefully there are about 3 other forum members that will chime in here from Arkansas! I have seen them before in the forum! I know you are out there! We should have a Winepress Arkansas winefest!

I'm up in NorthWest Arkansas.

I'm heading down next week for an Altus/Paris winery tour. It's been too many years since my last trip. I probably have a different perspective now. smileytoast.gif

Hey Hippie
Yep! I live way out in the "sticks" on 72 acres and absolutely love it!We've got wild plums, wild and "tame" blackberries, persimmons, pears and in a few years when the trees get old enough,we'll have peaches and apples, too.
BTW Hippie, do you have a good persimmon wine recipe? Thanks! smile.gif

Nope, sorry, can never find any ripe persimmons. The wildlife eat them all before they are ripe. Have you tried Jack Keller's site?

You know,I didn't think about Jack's site.I thought you might have one.I know what you mean about all the wildlife eating them all up before they get ripe. We've got several trees close to my parents home, and I'm hoping I can get a bumper crop this year-before the deer! biggrin.gif

Arkansas? Is that where the 2006 Winepress Winefest is going to be? Great.

Happily Winemaking.

Waiting for the 2013 Harvest!

Howdy all you Arkies! I live in Hope and I'm just discovering the wine making hobby. I'm having a good time with it. I haven't drank any of my own stuff yet but maybe in another 30 days.

I've been keeping my eye on the persimmon trees along the interstate. There are about a dozen large ones between Hope and Texarkana and they are LOADED! I'm thinking about going out and picking a couple of buckets full.

Jack has a persimmon recipe. I'm not sure these yellow Arkansas persimmons will be as good as the orange Texas persimmons but I think I'll give them a try.

Hi! Welcome to the forum. This native Arky was the first member here, not counting the admin team. Lots of info here to search through.
