The Missouri Winemaking Society meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Maplewood Community Pool. Meetings start with officer and committee reports. A program follows dealing with some aspect of winemaking. The speaker is usually a club member or a winemaker from a commercial winery. After the program, homemade or commercial wines are tasted and critiqued. Wine and winemaking procedures are discussed to better understand the process and its impact on a finished wine.

The Missouri Winemaking Society also holds social events throughout the year. Events have included grape stomps, apple grinding parties, grapevine pruning demonstrations, field trips to commercial wineries or vineyards, and an annual Holiday Party with a wine exchange.

Meetings are the third Thursday of each month

Sorry John, I don't know of anything on the west side. Have you contacted your local wine making supply shop? Also, hopefully we'll get some more people involved after Yogi's artical in WineMaker Magazine soon.

Cheers,
joel

Joel, I have checked with both of the LHBS here and they do not seem that interested in starting a wine club. I even asked for a customer list from one of the stores that I use and the owner would not help out. There use to be another Winepress member who was from this area, I tried to get together with him but it never worked out and have not seen any posts from him for a long time. I guess that I will have to remain frustrated in K.C. wacko.gif

When does the winemaker KC Cellarmaster club meet? I live in St. Louis and am a member of the Missouri Winemaking Society, but I am frequently in KC (lots of family there) and would like to catch a meeting if timing works out.

The Greater Kansas City Cellarmasters meets on the fourth Friday of every month. Our meetings are held at a members home. We taste our home made wines, have a short business meeting, and have a presentation on wine or winemaking activities. Visit our web page and send an email to the Cellarmaster the next time you plan a visit and I will provide you with data to the next scheduled meeting.

I went to the Missouri Valley Winemakers Society meeting out in Warrenton last week (1-08-09).. I'm glad I did! It was fun! Good People, Good Wine, and a Good Time. It's nice having other people to talk about Wine and Winemaking with....my wife gets tired of hearing me talk about it constantly... Thanks to Bob and the rest of the group for a warm welcome....

I am curious thought out the Missouri Winemaking Society...are they still meeting? The website looks like a ghost town... If they aren't still meeting maybe all of the former members would like to fold over into the MVWS....

Kleph (Josh), I am glad you enjoyed the meeting. We have fun along with learning a little about wine making in the process. Thanks for the input you gave at the meeting. Like you, my wife gets tired of me talking about the wine club and wine making all the time. But she is the first to try my wines.

My web master (Justin) has done a nice job on our website. We are always looking for ways to improve it.
