Just found a site that sells used stainless steel 55 gallon barrels for reasonable prices.  I think they're in Ohio.  http://www.usedstain...teelbarrels.com  Haven't done business with them, but thinking about it.  Maybe this will help someone on here.

Looks like their prices start at about $149.  They also have a good selection of ss stock pots and beakers, and prices looked good.

Colonel Wade,

Did you ever decide on the stainless containsers?  I am looking at various ones on ebay ranging from 200-300.  But if I go to the main suppliers of CA wine growers, SKOLNIK, they are 450-500.

The ones on ebay are a bit sketch - where are they from, what kind of stainless, what are the weld joints like.

Is anyone more familiar with what may be the best choice in these barrels?

No,  I'd forgotten about them.  I do have 2 stainless fermenters that I bought off craigslist.  Before I buy anything else winemaking related I need to add on to the house!
