Just finished my 72 bottle ladder rack made from pine. It fits nicely between some of the studs in my basement foundation. There are 4 rungs able to hold 18 bottles each.

Very nice! May I offer a suggestion based on my own experience building my cellar? I'd suggest adding about three cross pieces on the back as well as the front (like the one you have in the middle/front). I think you'll find that the weight of the bottles will want to spread the uprights apart, possibly even enough to allow a bottle to slip between the rungs. Just a FWIW.

And I bet now that you have the hang of it there will be many more to come!

Go for it. If you search the forum pages for ladder racks. You will see someone who put a link for a book, online through google books for the design planes. This was were I took the idea from.

I bought the vertical rails at the local hardware stores going out of business sale, they are 1x2 strips that are 6 feet long and costed $0.50 each. I then bought a few 1x8 sheets of pine from menards to cut into the horizontal rails, using my table saw and miter saw.

I really recommend searching these forums pages for the person who posted the google book link.

I did this after I took the picture. I placed 4 additional cross pieces on the back.

Great point on having many more to come. I made a jig specific to the width of the rack and I also have a pattern for the space between the horizontal rails. The jig and the pattern save a ton of time. I still make sure my rails are level using a square on every 3rd rail.

Looks great. Will these be attached to a wall as well, or just free standing?

Just looking for a bit of extra time so I can start mine. The plans are all ready in sketchup. Still using my old second hand ikea racks. Maybe after pressing this fall.

Hi don't suppose you have plans for this laying around? As the book you mentioned cost a lot to get shipped to Australia where I am located

I honestly don't have any plans, but you can get the book for free. I found everything on a google book search. It gave me the entire set of plans.

Let me know if you need additional help.
