I've used detergent as a deturrent before.
My understanding on using dish soap with oil when spraying is that the soap keeps the oil from separating from the water in spray solution, making it a more effective cover on the plant, where the water evaporates and leaves the oil. I think Grandpa explained it that way to me.

that is what I was thinking Wade, but I'm no chemist, but I know one!

I have so much more respect for farmers now!

Exactly, you cannot expect to get the full benefits of application of an oil based product without some type of surfactant. Most of the commercial agricultural oil products contain a surfactant (a.k.a. detergent or soap) already in the mix.

Is that why stylette oil emulsifies with water and turns it a cloudy white? From what I've read, stylette doesn't need a surfactant. Is that cause there's already one added?

111 F here today I heard PM wont survive over 104 is that true? I am into veraison so I see no need to spray anymore.Any thoughts?
