I just saw you guys met in April. I didn't know about it but couldn't have come anyway as wife was pregnant with 4th kid!

We've now had our 4th bundle of joy and I thought about hosting an event in Nashville.

What do you guys think: June?

I don't really know how these things work. Should it be a destination or is sitting around drinking wine and talking the normal fare?

Let me know.

Reb,
Sounds good!
The host decides the "theme" of the meeting, and we all bring food and wine. Some times we do it at a home, sometimes at a winery. So far both ways are my favorite! smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif

Wade will you keep me up on this one? I am thinking I may be able to come down. I will try to remember to follow the thread, but I get distracted, you know?

I'll talk to my wife and see when a good time will be in the next few weeks.

If we have it at our place in Nashville it will need to be low-key (as opposed to a destination meeting) due to the many things we've got going on.

I'm thinking a Saturday with a a big pot of homemade soup and grilled prosciutto and cheese sandwiches.

Since I'm going to be making wine from grapes for the first time this years that's what I would like to pick as a topic. Would that be okay?

You bet that would be okay! And most any of the next few Saturdays would work for us.
Sara, we'll all try to keep you informed.
Reb, if you haven't sourced your grapes yet, talk to Scott (SHoffner) and maybe he can direct you to some. Also keep an eye on Craigslist for grapes. I bought Chambourcin a few years back off craigslist from someone just North of Nashville.

As always....I'm in! smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif

That being said; though, last 2 or 3 weeks of August and the first couple of September will be busy with harvest et al.

Okay, here it is.

How about July 28th in Nashville at my house? I have three wines we can taste. All kits. Have a Chardonnay/Semillon blend I tasted today that is still in the carboy that was pretty good.

We'll make lunch. Does the group generally do potluck for side dishes?

Topic: making wine from grapes/techniques, tips and such. Seems like a good topic as harvest is just around the corner.

I figured we could go from 10AM to 5PM. Does that sound good?

I don't know the rules here so let me know.

Reb

Sounds good to us! But it may be closer to 11 or 12 before we get there.
Pot luck for sides sounds like what we usually do.
Looking forward to it! Hope everyone can make it. smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif smileytoast.gif

Sounds good. Amy and I will be there. I think I will try and convince her to make cake balls again.
Wade- I'll bring you a sample of the Chambourcin. The first five gallons should be getting ready to come out of barrel. I haven't sampled since may or so.
Reb- PM me your email address and I'll send you the email list for the group. Not everyone frequents this forum.

Bring some of the Traminette you just bottled. I'm curious to see what it is like after resting a little bit.

I think that date will work for me! So as of right now, count me in!! I will bring down a variety of some of my stuff and go from there...thinking peach port, raspberry mead, boysenberry wine, cherry-raspberry galengal mead, niagara lime, chocolate raspberry chambourcin (I really want Wade to taste & I want to taste his), 2 ports from kits: white chocolate white and chocolate raspberry, Skeeter Pee for the fun of it, and who knows what else!! I would really LOVE to sample some TN Catawba if anyone has any.

WOO HOO!!!!!
