I have just found out that Lavender can cause loss of testosterone. I was considering adding some to some of my mead but now that idea is no longer under consideration. You can google lavender and testostering. Anyone have any experience with this or know about it?

Drinking a beverage that the body considers a toxin but worrying about a hint of lavender? Not sure that makes a lot of sense...But in the interest of an open mind do you have any info on dosage? How much lavender would you have to put in a mead for it to have an effect on testosterone?

Limited studies mention lavender's essential oil ,which is highly concentrated stuff. you need a field worth for a few liters of this stuff.
In the reasonable dose which I assume your going to add to your mead the concentration of this suspected active compound or compounds should be fairly low.
Anyhow, hormone defficiency can be tested and treated if you find yourself without "juice" after drinking your mead

My advice may or may not be backed by actually personal expirience and should be treated as such.

I found this while looking for info
"Don't be a lush: Sad but true—too much alcohol has a dampening effect on testosterone. For cardiovascular health, the American Heart Association recommends a maximum of two servings of alcohol per day. But if you're trying to control body fat and optimize testosterone, keep it at three to five servings per week."
you can make your mead, just don't drink it:-) fwiw

Damn, as I was reading this kind of quickly, I thought it said "three to five servings per day" and was getting all enthused! Then I slowed down and saw what it really said.. hey, that CAN'T be right!
Sigh.
