[Wade's Wines]

I just found 2 people on craigslist selling wine grapes.

One is in Manchester and has 10 varieties at $.50 a pound. His name is Harold, at 931-723-6744

The other is in Clarksville at $.55 a pound, 615-418-8058. The varieties they mentioned are probably all picked by now on this one, but couldn't hurt to give them a call and ask. If you're near there, it might be a good connection for next year.

I don't know either of these Folks. Just thought it might help someone here find some grapes at a very good price. Every variety I've put through the produce auction has averaged about $1.50 a pound! Of course, I'm careful not to flood the market and the buyers generally haven't been winemakers.

I'm almost 5 hours away from Clarksville. I know because I have family there. If it were closer I'd consider it, right now I can't even talk my hubby into driving 3 hours to go get grapes.

About 2 hours to Manchester... Little over an hour to Clarksville.

Wade you are fairly close to Manchester.

You have to be careful with the Manchester Co-op. Many (not all) of the vineyards that are part of that co-op are very green in terms of knowing how to grow quality grapes. I spoke with Harold a little over a month ago.


As I don't have the space to grow my own, I have been on a mission to get to know as many of the vineyards in TN as possible. I have had some good success.....and a number of failures. It was my intention to post contact info for the better ones late in the winter or early in the spring.

I believe the Clarksville vineyard is where Diotec got his Chardonel from. What he described to me was below average fruit. But I can't say if that was from vineyard practices or local weather conditions.

Please do post that list when you get it put together, Scott. It would help growers and winemakers alike!

We had a new grower bring Merlot to the Auction Friday. She put them in tiny half peck boxes, 1/8 bushel each, couldn't have had more than 6# per box. They went for $14 a half peck! Personally, I think it had to do with how good the Auctioneer is! Okay, couldn't help myself.

We told her she has to put them in pecks or berry masters, bigger boxes, next time. I'll bet she brings some for Monday's auction, but I'd be shocked if they bring any where near that much then.

I am in Clarksville but do not know any grape growers other than the winery here. Both owners stopped by last week to try my first harvest wine and see the vineyard. not sure who these other people are - 615 may be in the cheatham county area.

Adkins vineyard in Clarksville has grapes for sale. Right now the niagra and cayuga whites are getting ripe. They smell wonderful and are disease free.We can handle orders from pounds to tons. Concords and catawba will be coming along in a couple weeks. We are asking 50 cents a pound and can discuss delivery.

From the TFWA website/group that I am in:

Scott Paschal (Hickory Hill Farms) has about a ton of cab franc that he is selling. $1.25/lb.

His number is 615-683-8555 or mobile 615-347-9590. I can't attest to the quality. That would be up to you to find out. It is his first year harvest. (planted the vines 3 years ago).

Judging by the area code I assume it is somewhere in middle TN.
