Hello out there! I'm looking for used Macrobins or T-bins or any other type of harvest/fermentation bins. I'm looking for 4 half-ton and 2 1-ton. Thank you for your time! I'm in Napa.

Good luck.

As mentioned, winebusiness.com classifieds is probably the best place to look, but they sell very fast when offered and pricing is usually only about $30 below retail. I also saw them come up every so often on Craigslist when I was looking to buy some. I purchased my 1/2 ton bins at Central Valley Builders Supply in Napa.

Yup! Winebusiness.com and winerysite.com are the normal sites I check other than craigslist.com. It's all about who you know to get them for a good price.

I checked at Central valley builders. $495 each! Ouch! Plus $100 for the lid!
I've seen them in the past on sites with lids for $100, I also picked up a couple waffle bins last summer for $30 each.

I use two 275 gal totes with the tops cut off. Craiglist. Be careful of previous contents and odor. Mine had sanitation records still affixed. They are very light when empty and pallet-jackable (if you don't have a forklift) when full. I'll brag that I paid $50 each....but I've see a LOT of them under $100.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I see those totes on Craigslist. The ones on there now had olive oil or vegtable oil or something nasty like diesel fuel in them. I would think that the sanitized ones would be the way to go. I still think tbins and macrobins will turn up.

I bought new 24S macro bins last year at Suisun Valley Fruit Growers for $230 ea. They said prices were going up. Not sure if they have any used bins but you can give them a call.

Great thx! Thats a great price. I think Macrobins should be cheap here because they are made 15 minutes from here. But, they will not sell them to me. I think it crazy how central valley builders screws us.

What is it you think CV Builders Supply is doing? I've found it to have great pricing on most things and to be pretty helpful. As far as bins, these prices are established by Macroplastics. I doubt they have a huge markup at the distributors. There are other companies making these types of containers like Bonair. All of them I have looked at are more expensive and probably why the Macroplastics version is pretty much the industry standard. Make sure you are looking at comparable sizes, there are more different sizes than most realize and different sizes usually don't stack onto each other.

Considering how convenient they are, CVBS in Napa has great prices on Macro bins. If you are buying a lot of items, I suggest opening a charge account with them. Prices are a little lower that way. Also, if you are a business, be sure to file for your sales tax exemption.

If you cannot get the price down and have to pay full boat, consider Bonar instead. They have better features than Macro especially for the insulated fermenters.

Im guessing that most people in this forum do not go to the CVBS in Napa? Every time I go into the store I get a different price. Yes, I do have an account. But, No I'm not a business owner. This winemaking is for fun. I give all the wine away! I guess I would rather do my bussiness elsewhere after going there for many years.
If anybody knows where to get used ones I would love to know! Thanks for your response.

The reason you get different prices is simple economics. The price goes up as demand increases the closer it gets to harvest. The price goes down as demand drops after harvest. I have paid as little as $175 each in December but as much as $255 in September. The price also fluctuates depending on who you ask. Managers are able to lower the price to make a sale than a sales clerk. If they have excess inventory, they are even more inclined to lower the price.

As others have said, check CL and winerysite. They are out there but rare.

That's a weird price for a 1/2 ton bin. Maybe they quoted you for the T-bin? I've followed the prices at CV Builders and Suisun Valley for the last two years and the 24S model has always been around $220 when I've checked.
