I just started ML on 88 gallons of Wash State Syrah. I have 80 gallons in a Dexter Flextank. First time making a Red in a Flextank. Once Ml is complete I plan to use Natalie oak planks to Oak the wine. I am just curious to know how those of you with Flextanks have suspended the planks in the wine. I will use a combination of American and French oak planks and use the combination Doyle has recommended in previous posts. Not sure how to suspend the planks in the wine keeping separate maybe something with fishing line, etc. I am curious what others have done?

I drilled a small hole in the bottom of a solid rubber bung and screwed a stainless eye hook into it. The drilling didn't leave a hole in the rubber but more of a pilot path for the screw. The oak planks I had were tethered together with a nylon string so I just hooked the string onto the looped screw.

Another format of oak to consider from Nadalie are the oak chains. This is what I have used with my Flextanks and can be inserted into the screw cap opening easily.

With the planks I believe you will need to remove the entire lid which may get messy.
