I had a question about lifespan of SO2 in water. I found out I can save $$ by making my own Standard solution of 100 ppm. But if I put the powder into water, how long will the solution maintain it's 100 ppm ? IfIs distilled or de-ionized water preferable?

That day. You should make it up in a 0.1% citric acid solution to liberate the SO2, ie. 1g citric in 1000mL H2O. Deionized is better and usually Purified Water from the store works fine.

Whats the error (ppm) with this standart solution given its used on the spot?
I understood water which are not free of dissolved oxygen may creat an error.
My advice may or may not be backed by actually personal expirience and should be treated as such. :)

You're right. The citric acid is what helps to take care of that. A guy I worked with learned the hard way not to mix up SO2 in the same bucket that he dissolved TTA in without rinsing it first. We had to evacuate the cellar. :(

Oh, I'll try to work out the error in a couple months. My free time for math has taken a turn towards the non-existent.
