I'm trying to recycle wine bottles using screw caps. The caps sold are 28 mm and the commercial bottles I am told, are 30 mm. Does anyone know where I can buy caps that fit?

I don't like those metal ones at all. A friend sent me a few bottles of blueberry with those caps on them and they were all rusted. Only about 2 years old as far as being in service. I use screw top bottles and I reuse the tops. A good soak in a light bleach solution then I let them dry, open side down on some paper towel. No problems other than probably 1 out of 12 is stripped. I have such a large supply of them I just use another top and recycle the bottle I took it from.
As a side note, you can use a cork in them and they still look real nice if you put a shrink cap over them. I have done that many times.

Kraus only carries 28 mm that I have found. I thought about reusing current caps.
Thanks for both replies.

In the future, keep the original caps on each bottle since they are individually formed to the threads on each neck. However, you'll always loose the occasional bottle when you re-use screw caps. They are fine for less than a year.
