Alabama Senate Bill 153, legalizing homemade beer/wine/mead has been introduced and sent to committee. We also have House support, but will not introduce a separate House Bill unless the Senate bogs down (as usual). Anyone interested in supporting this effort should contact your Senator and/or Representative and ask them for their support.

We are stalled in the Senate Tourism and Marketing Committee. We were voted through this one last year 7-0, but bingo/gambling bills are the flavor of the session. We have been calling, faxing, emailing to get the chair to put this on the agenda. If nothing moves in the Senate by the end of next week, our House sponsor will submit a similar bill in the House.

They used to have rules like this in where I live, they done away with them when the soviets were kicked out. Is it a tax thing, can you buy alcohol in the shops, or is it a religious thing, like the Muslim countries? I would never have thought it possible to have such a rule in the United States.

It would surprise many (including Americans) people of some of the silly, unconstitutional laws we have on the books.
