What exactly are the different designations and volumes for different sized kegs? What exactly is a cornelius Keg?
Any important Do's and Don'ts for first time kegging?

The most common Cornelius Kegs (the ones that used to be used by the soda companies) are 5 gallon Kegs. They make 3-gallon kegs which are easier to transport to functions, but they cost more. They also make 10-gallon and 15-gallon Cornelius kegs but they are quite expensive ($200 +) where a used 5-gallon keg can often be found for $20-30. These kegs are different from the 15-gallon beer kegs that breweries uses and use a different style of fixtures for the gas inlet and liquid outlet.

Good instruction for a keg can be found here.
