Hey, I know there are a few of you in the Milwaukee area that would like to get together every so often and share and compare... Let me know. I'm more than a little anxious to exchange some of our home made "country" wines. It doesn't have to start as a formal meeting per se, but it would be nice to be able to get together and maybe even buy in bulk on some things just to save money.

Let me know if you're going to visit your stepdads brother... I'm just a few houses off of hwy 60 on your way to Jackson. I'll send you off with a few bottles of your choice from my wine rack. Cranberry, cranberry/concord, lilac, blueberry, blueberry/concord, asian pear, and strawberry.

Just PM me a day ahead, or if you'd like to meet to exchange a couple anywhere...

Later,
Steve.

PS. I know about the kid thing... I have 3 girls wacko.gif

I used to be a member of the Wisconsin Vintner's Association. Their "headquarters" is the Purple Foot. Ask the folks there how to contact them. I wasn't a member long, but it seemed like a good group.
It takes a lot of beer to make good wine...

Hey folks. I'm in Pewaukee and would love to try some other homebrew wines. I'd be willing to go into Milwaukee occasionally, but if there are folks closer in the Brookfield/Waukesha/Pewaukee/Hartland/Oconomowoc/Delafield area, that would be even better. Even if it's just 3-4 of us on here, maybe we could do something more informal just to get things started. I'll be watching this thread.

I know three wine makers near me in Milwaukee and at least that many beer brewers. Mostly a pretty private and stay at home group though. I haven't even persuaded any of them to join this forum. sad.gif

I know they wouldn't be interested in any thing like the Wisconsin Vintner's Group as it seems a little too formal if still laid back. We're just about making and drinking alcohol in the comforts of our homes.

When I get better wines I think I will go to competitions (besides the one at Serb hall). I'd be up however can rarely commit to much due to my hectic work/personal schedules. I don't see much normally going on in the area for wine makers tho.

Welcome, this is a great forum to get the basics (along with Jack Kellers site). I've been trying to convince many friends to get into wine/beer making. It's fun, and last year my blueberry got a 2nd place a the state fair! Go figure. I'd be happy to help any newcomer get into this hobby... Just PM me with any Qs

Later,
Steve

Hi! I'm in West Bend and just got into the hobby this year. I've made mostly kits but just made my first juice, and apple/cherry. I'll probably do more gallon or two gallon batches this summer with fresh materials.

I mainly go to Cedarburg or brew and grow for my materials.

took 3 bottles ( pear, strawberry and banana) to the Purple Foot shop today so they can be taken to the state fair judging May 14th or so. I'm really hopeful that I can get more ribbons, but who knows?
