I have some alright wine by my standards, but was interested in seeing how it compares to others. Does anyone ever compete in competitions? There is a competition in my local community and was thinking about entering. Blue Ridge Wine Festival in Blowing Rock. What does everyone think?

Most wine competitions give the judges notes to the entrant...these could really help you...good or bad. I'd do it for the experience if nothing else.

Each entry is $10 and THREE bottles!?!? I would pass and look for other competitions.

Here's a thread that has a number of links to various competitions.

Let us know what and where you enter and how you do!

Good luck!

Thanks for the help, but I think I am going to give it a try. $10 is noot too much for me and I think it is only two bottles. Plus, I don't have to pay for shipping.

$10 isn't too much, but I'd have a difficult time parting with three bottles per each entry.

Good luck...let us know your results!

I like to enter my wine into competition but I have since started limiting my entries into those competitions where you receive judging notes. It's a good way to get feed back on your wine, good or bad. Although some scoring sheets I have seen are very lacking in descriptive detail but at least you get the number score for each area the wine is judged.

I agree completely. I don't even like competitions that require two bottles, but three??? Give me a break. wallbash.gif

Oh, and if it is bottled in a 375 ml bottle, they want you to send in 6 bottles! I sure hope you're not entering any ice wine. ohmy.gif

I noticed they have both commercial and amateur competitions. But I don't see any difference in the number of bottles that are required.
